Three-ply, decoratively veneered, serpentine, cabinet faces.
This piece was collaboration between two shops, where we did the veneer work here in Santa Barbara, and the casework was done by Steve Balter in Seattle, WA. The curved front face of the cabinet has a serpentine footprint, and the finished three-ply skins that make a stable yet flexible 2mm plywood, then vacuum-pressed onto the drawer faces once the carcass was complete. This is why 120 ton hot-presses and Festool belt sanders rule.
Hello Paul,
curious how you came upon the Festool sander? I don’t believe they are available in the US.
Hi Dale, Since this is a portable tool that needs 220 V. (Osha non approved) they are not available or supported in the USA or Canada. I obtained one from Germany.
